This guide explains step-by-step how to set up Two-Factor authentication (2FA) for your ValidSign account. 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your account.

1. Log in to ValidSign

Go to the ValidSign environment and log in with your email address and password. Click 'Next' to proceed.

2. 2FA notification after logging in

After logging in, a notification will appear stating that Two-Factor Authentication is required to better protect your account and data. You have two options:

  • Set up later
Postpone the setup once. The next time you log in, this will no longer be possible and you will have to set up 2FA.
  • Set up 2FA
Start setting up 2FA immediately (recommended).

Note: You can postpone the setup only once. After that, it is mandatory to set up 2FA before you can continue working.

3. Configure 2FA

You will be redirected to the 'Two-Factor Authentication' page in the 'My Account' section of your account. Follow these steps to set up two-factor authentication:

  1. Open an existing authentication app on your mobile phone. If you do not have one yet, you can download one of the following authentication apps: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy.
  2. Scan the QR code on the screen with your authentication app, or enter the code manually.
  3. Enter the 6-digit verification code from the app to confirm the link.

4. Save your backup codes

After successfully setting up 2FA, you will receive a set of backup codes. Each code can only be used once to access your account if you do not have your authentication app at hand.

Click 'Copy' to copy the codes and keep them in a safe place. Then click 'Done' to complete the process.

Success! Your two-factor authentication is now enabled. From now on, when logging in, you will need both your password and the verification code from your authentication app, and your account data will be even better protected.

Important: Keep the backup codes in a safe location (for example, in a password manager). These codes are your only alternative if you lose access to your authentication app.
